Γιατί θα ήθελα να ήμουν γάτα.....νιιαααοουυυ...

Για να μπορώ να κοιτάζω τον κόσμο στα μάτια χωρίς να φοβάμαι και να το βάζω στα πόδια όταν με κοιτούν επίμονα .

Για να μπορώ να ζω κάθε μου στιγμή κουλουριασμένο στη ζεστασιά ή στο κρύο, στη θαλπωρή ενός φιλόξενου σπιτιού ή στα κρύα δρομάκια μιας γειτονιάς. Η ακόμα και στην αυλή κάποιου νηπιαγωγείου.

Έχοντας 7 ψυχές θα αντέχω 7 φορές πιο πολύ τα στραπάτσο-βήματα μου. Θ α έχω 7 φορές πιο πολύ αντοχή να πηδήξω από το μπαλκόνι του δωματίου μου και με σιγουριά για την ομαλή προσγείωση.

Η ζωή μου θα κυλά ναζιάρικα, ζητώντας όποτε μου γουστάρει τις αγκαλιές και τα χάδια.

Εστω κι αν μείνω μόνο θα εξακολουθώ να κοιτάζω τους ανθρώπους στα μάτια...κρατώντας πάντα τη απόσταση ασφαλείας. Μμιιαααοουυ...

"Η παραπλάνηση της σκέψης, της συννενόησης και της φαντασίας"

- Απορίες λογικές ανάλογες - κλείσε τα μάτια και αφουγκράσου για λίγο, τα λόγια των άλλων, των διάφορων ανθρώπων που υπάρχουν στη ζωή σου.
Ακουσε τους προσεχτικά, συγκεντρωμένα έστω και με τα μάτια κλειστά.

Αφουγκράσου.

Τώρα προσπάθησε να περιπλανηθείς μέσα στις λέξεις, δεν έχει σημασία αν δεν καταλαβαίνεις τι λεν οι λέξεις τους...κάνε μια υπόθεση ή ένα σενάριο, βάλε λίγη φαντασία ...σαν το αλάτι στο ψωμί, βάλε το δικό σου χρώμα κάνε το δικό σου με δικά σου λόγια.

Τώρα αναρωτήσου: "όλη μας η ζωή είναι φτιαγμένη από λόγια "φαντασιοποίητα", από υποθέσεις που η δική μας φαντασία έχει περιπλανηθεί? Πιστεύεις αρκετά στη δική σου φαντασία έτσι ώστε να μπορείς να περιπλανηθείς? Κι αν δεν μπορείς να συνεννοηθείς...έχεις χαθεί στα πιο στενά μονοπάτια?
Εχει γίνει η φαντασία που έφτιαξες αληθινή? Είναι η αληθινή ζωή που τώρα ζεις?

...Η ζωή μου, αχ και να'τανε ποτάμι, να με πάρει, να με ταξιδέψει, να φουντώσει και να φουσκώσει, να πλημμυρίσει κι η καρδία μου από αγάπη και όταν φτάσει εκείνη ώρα να ξεχυθεί στη θάλασσα και να γίνει ένα το γλυκό με τ'αλμυρό.

Μια σταγόνα αγάπης στο ποτήρι σου θα ρίξω, για να αντέξει τη ζωή. Για να αντέξει η καρδιά το πάθος και η ψυχή το βάθος. Και όταν η σταγόνα γίνει θάλασσα απ' τον ιδρώτα του έρωτα, θα το δεις, θα ανακαλύψεις την κρυμμένη μοναξιά σου.

Στα σκαλοπάτια της ζωής μου κάθομαι κι περιμένω, δεν θ' ανέβω άλλα έχω κουραστεί. Σαν κάποιος να μου φώναξε..."Παράτα με"... δεν γυρνάω να δω...ξέρω.."Σε παρατάω" λέω στον εαυτό μου και φεύγω απ' τα σκαλοπάτια μου.

Ψάρρρριιιααααα

....τα ψάρια με κοιτούσαν παγωμένα, θλιμμένα με μάτια καταγάλανα, ορθάνοιχτα σαν την στόμαρα τους που πιάστηκε καταναγκαστικά στο αγκίστρι. Απ' τη ψαρόβαρκα φρέσκο στο πιάτο σας... "Εδώ το καλό ψάρι" φωνάζει σπαστά ο αλλοδαπός παντοπώλης - 2 κιλά μαρίδα και 3 τσιπούρες του απαντώ...
...και τα ψάρια ακόμα να να με κοιτάνε με αυτά τα παγωμένα μάτια τα ψαρίσια με το στόμα ανοιχτό έτσι απλά να κοιτάνε στο υπερπέραν....

This is the result of a teamwork, a documentary representing the multiculturalism in London as seen by children living in London.This is my first attempt on editing and making a short doc. I enjoyed every minute on the making of this film and i hope the same for the rest of my team.I'm proud for all of them. Αναλαμπή ενός ταξιδιού...

Αναρωτιέμαι και συγκρατώ , κατακρατώ τις σκέψεις των ονείρων μου που προκαλούν την τύφλωση και την απελπισία του μυαλού μου,

για όλα αυτά που θέλω ή που θα ΄θελα να έχω και για αυτές τις ξαφνικές λέξεις που δίνουν νόημα σ'αυτό το τιποτένιο χαρτί (ή Blog),

το εμπλουτίζουν και συναρπαστικά αλλάζει μορφή και χρώμα, γίνετε ανάγνωσμα από νοερά μυαλά και χάρτης πορείας μιας γραμματοσειράς χειρόγραφης.

Στην αγορά των ονείρων μου τίποτα δεν μένει στο ράφι και η καρδία που πούλησα για ένα πιάτο φακή δεν μου γεμίζει το αδειανό μου στομάχι.

Μα πιο πολύ με ενοχλεί το αδειανό μου μυαλό που γουργουρίζει πεινώντας να διαβάσει τα κατορθώματα των άλλων αυτών που κατάφεραν να τυπωθούν.

Σ'αγαπώ

Δεν θέλω να δω το φως του ήλιου
αν δεν ξέρω πως απόψε θα κοιμηθώ στην αγκαλιά του.

Δεν θέλω να με δει το φως του ήλιου
αν η αγάπη του για μένα έχει χαθεί σε στενά δρομάκια.

Δεν έχω ζωή ούτε τη δύναμη να κρατηθώ
για να μην κάνω το κακό στον εαυτό μου.

Σε πλήγωσα αλλά το μαχαίρι κάρφωσε την δική μου καρδιά.

Ούτε ο αναστεναγμός ούτε το μοιρολόι θα σε φέρουν πίσω, μόνο η αγάπη μου αν την συναντήσεις κάπου εκεί στα στενά δρομάκια που γυρνάς.

Είσαι μια αγάπη , μια αναλαμπή στης καρδιάς μου την πληγή.

Είναι καιρός να μεγαλώσεις, να βγάλεις τα ψεύτικα στολίδια και να φορέσεις τα μεταξωτά μαζί με τα χρυσά.

Όσο ο καιρός περνά , τόσα άλλα χρόνια σου σκεπάζουν την πλάτη.

EDITING workshop notes

Program: Final Cut Pro 5

First
you should always allocate the scratch discs that you are saving your work in order to be able to have your work safe!

When you open first the program make sure is your work open because usually it opens the last project. File - close project / File - new project

Setting scratch discs - so all the folders will go and saved in one place -

File - Log and Capture

Capture settings - scratch discs

1st SET - find the scratch disc you wish to save your work on - choose

do the same act for Waveform cache
Thumbnail cache
Auto save cache

Inserting the tape in the console - carefully without pushing it inside by force.









Logging - change the description name every time you change subject and the reel every time you insert a different cassette

Your work area includes - the Browser / Viewer /Canvas /Timeline
If needed rearrangement - window -arrange - standard - in order to arrange your windows in a standard layout to work better.

2 ways of digitization

1. For single shots
To capture - press space bar to play the cassette - with (I) and (O) letters you can Mark In and Mark Out the piece of the cassette that you want to digitize.


When you press
(I) a mark appears on the deck control as mark then press (O) to mark out your capture. Play in and out to select you markings in exact seconds you desire.


To clear markings press control +click once and select from the drop menu clear in and out.

After you capture your scene have ready the mouse over "now" when click you are capturing the clip. "esc" to stop the capturing processes

2.For many shots
To capture - press space bar to play the cassette - with (I) and (O) letters you can Mark In and Mark Out the piece of the cassette that you want to digitize as mentioned before. After you mark your capture click log clip.This will appear on your browser menu as offline. Repeat this step as long as you need for your captures.

Batch - all offline items in logging bin
SAVE all your projects !!!!!

To make a new bin(folder) in the browser ctrl+click - new bin

At the timeline blue indicates video and green the audio

Click n hold to select and move the clip on the timeline and snap to the end. Space bar to play the clip. Black screen means that there is nothing on the timeline. Canvas replicates what is on the timeline.

Magnify - bottom line so it will fit all your clips when you have many.

When you click on the edge of the clip it edits the clip by making it shorter - to move it click on the middle of the clip.

When dragging a clip in timeline by drag n drop you actually copy it so you have the original clip on the browser.

Click on it and drag 2 or more clips at the same direction


Other option is to click and make a square to select and move.

Razor tool - click on it when you move it in the middle of the clip you want to cut.

Edit - undo to go back to the beginning and make sure you select the selection tool again

Effects - 2 clips together to make transition - effects panel - (make sure you are active on timeline) - video transitions - dissolve - cross dissolve

sequence - render all - render both (in order to play what you have edit)


P.S. I apologize for not having prt sc visual of the program but unfortunately i do not own a mac book pro and neither the final cut pro 5 program :( so visit the computer labs for more information:P LOL

Light
The sensitivity of our eye is much more than the sensitivity of the camera!

Always take in consideration the Ambient Light on locations. (The received light in the environment)
Remember to use as much ambient light as you can and also think what kind of lighting can be used. Moving quickly through different location scenes can be difficult to use tungsten lights.
-Be aware of ambient light and general conditions of location
-Notice the dark areas - when becoming grain and noisy

always ask yourself:
CAN I SEE IT?
IS IT OVEREXPOSED /BURNED OUT?

make sure that the light on the skin is white!

Reflected light is really important
- use the ND of the camera to enable sunglasses when in sunlight
- use reflector board /white sheet/white t-shirt
- aluminum works as a mirror (you can crush up a bit the aluminum sheet to reflect in variety)

Shadows are our friends! - shadows make the images look more real and give depth and dimension.

Dimension is important in the image

Light can tell us the narrative as well as inform the viewer understand what time of the day is and also provide a sense of where we are.
-light can give a natural look to environment thats normal
-change of lighting can give a different look thats up normal.

The style of film can also be determine from the usage of different lighting

KEY : Hi-Key
bright light overall level of lighting/more colors
Low-Key not too bright light /a lot of shadows/ex. X-files, Films Noir

TRUST YOUR INSTINCT! if a it doesn't feel good change it/ let your emotion and instinct to guide. How do you want your project to fell?

Keep people reasonably close to the light source




Always remember to do White Balance. It should always be done before starting filming in order to choose the correct light environment. Light has different hue and color.

Yellow - inside / Tungsten =3200 k yellow hue
Blue - outside / Daylight = 5600k blue hue

SOUND
Think separate of image and sound. First test the locations of filming to identify the ambient noise.

When record interviews the sound should be "SYNC" synchronized sound lipsync - sound and lips of the interviewee should be synchronized and matching.

voice, facial features and how they communicate are really important so avoid recording the sound later and try to sync with the lips of the interviewee.!

Ambient Sound -consider locations sounds when recording
Dead rooms are more preferable for recording
Avoid rooms with echo (echooo ooo oo) add foam material - absorb sounds

Dead sound is really important

Picture should matches the sound on the background - the worst sound is the one out of your frame that interferes within.

When editing be careful with the background noise to have a continuity. To avoid this always record a BUZZ track - an ambient sound of your location and record it as separate track.

Don't be shy to ask someone to STOP making noise if interfere with your ambient sound and visual.
Drill/ A/C should be turn off at all times when recording

Wild track record specific noises in dead rooms that need to be record more closely. (Steps, animal sounds)

Narrative recording should be in a dry location with dead sound.

Music- try to find copyright free music in that way your video clip can reach a wider range of audience.

Ένα μύθο θα σας πώ.....

Ο Βοριάς, σαν περνούσε λυσσασμένος να φύγει, βλέπει να τον κοιτάζει μια όμορφη κοπέλα από το παράθυρο της. Ήταν η όμορφη Αμυγδαλιά. Ο Βοριάς την είχε ερωτευτεί και την παρακαλούσε νύχτα μέρα να βγει για λίγο να την αγκαλιάσει για μια στιγμή. Η μητέρα της όμως, την συμβούλευε να μην βγει γιατί το κρύο ήταν τσουχτερό. Ένα πρωινό, που η μητέρα της έλειπε, παράκουσε την εντολή της και βγήκε να χαιρετήσει η κοπέλα τον αγαπημένο της Βοριά που έφευγε. Ο Βοριάς τρελαμένος από την ομορφιά της και την αγάπη του γι αυτήν, την έσφιξε στην κρύα αγκαλιά του. Η Αμυγδαλιά όμως δεν αντε3ε το κρύο και έσβησε στην αγκαλιά του. Ο καημένος Βοριάς δεν άντεξε τον πόνο στη ψυχή του και μετάτρεψε την αγαπημένη του σε μια όμορφη Αμυγδαλιά όπως τη ξέρουμε σήμερα. Γι' αυτό και ανθίζει πρώτη απ' όλα και την βλέπουμε ανθισμένη το χειμώνα, γιατί βιάζετε να προλάβει να χαιρετήσει τον αγαπημένο της βοριά πριν φύγει.

Proposal structure (2pages): should be an in depth analysis on more information on the content of the film based on research. The structure of the film,visualization,information on the contributors and style of the film(camera work,narration, lighting,music,graphics, typefaces etc.)

-expand on content
-visualization !!Teamwork is essential at this point on!!
-contributors
-style
-Keep up to the point -in a good selling form
-Whats good/relevant/unique/interesting
-put in a phrase or in a single word what the film is about


Narrative-Storytelling form relate to news from films

Be aware that you are filming in the real world - be ready to use opportunities that may come across- Be careful though in framework of the idea on how the story will be told.
How far can you script?
Depending on the kind of the documentary you script accordingly.
Consider the ethical dimensions on representation.When you script you represent a viewpoint.
Allow changes to happen to the script you have /but depends on the genre of the film/how far you want to represent the truth.
Is up to the director to decide how it will be represented - the essence of the film should be given without misrepresenting contributors in the film.
Questions are a powerful medium of directing your contributors on leading them to the direction you want.
ETHICS
Avoid misleading contributors on the intentions of the film - creating your own story can lead to disaster - unethical film making can also create the disapproving of the audience and bad reacting critic.

Remain truthful to the core meaning of the film

OBJECTIVITY
Can you be objective?can it really exist? in my opinion is a fairytale in the field of media!
What we can do is to show what we believe as truth. By deciding on the way to represent things and messages of the films is becoming subjective.

Interesting stories - thats what the audience wants - for every program you should show what your audience wants to see.
Be ethical not necessarily objective
Know who your audience are and find the way to change them

The use of facts and statistics are loosing credibility. Proofing points should be from credible sources.

Human stories - personalizing empathizing the problem of the family /person/
Essential elements is to empathize with someones position /suffer/way of living/

The Log Book
Should be reflecting the experiences through this course. A learning cycle that reflects on experiences evaluation and plan. Its not a diary! It should include a reflect and evaluation of the process including further research reading and class notes. Not only what i did but what i learned on the way- also what you already know and what you developed-interactions with colleagues - what i would do again. Evaluating - put yourself above and look of what you did so far - connecting it further reading as well. - Have a structure - at the beginning it might have the form of a diary but the final presentation should not!! (5-7thds wrds) It should be interesting - easy reading - can include other areas that you might have explored and interest you.

Research
access roots - contact people that can contact people that you are interested and get you what you want. Research on archives/relevant contributors /Choose the right team person to do the contact approaches/Agenda

why should they give up their time and contribute to your film?

Find someone who wants to help you!

Make sure you understand why they are doing it. -for attention/publicity/etc.

Everybody has a reason, find the right one to approach to corporate with.

Interaction make sure it connects to the next step - every phone call should lead to the next step.
Choose relevant clothing/background/
Location - explore selected locations -check for toilets/food/background noise/weather
Get your contributors on time on location and give them a log sheet stating the contact details giving them also a sense of what will happen

make them feel comfortable/confident in front of the camera/relaxed/to feel part of the team/
give them a glass of water and avoid pens(click click click)

The interviewer should be engaging and encouraging the interviewee, communicating in a conversation - listening the person in relation of what is interesting and has potential to be expanded.

Q:How are you today
A:Today I'm fine!

avoid close end questions
open ended questions help you get them talking - you stay quiet without commenting with any sound effects
repeat statements
if they cant or your not satisfied with the answers given try to redirect them to say it again in simple words.
Don't get carried away keep to your questions short and let them speak
It should be a positive enjoyable interaction in order to get them back if needed for more shots.

In order to get a closer relationship with your target audience you should classify audiences and make connections with in- using media channels that relate to your audiences
-range of audience
-primary search/expert people on analyzing relevance of information and answers
-secondary research-people's media usage

Audience are consumers
-Who are the organizations key target audiences?
-Why specific audience is important to the organization?
-What view does the organization wants the audience to have of it?
Reporting research findings
-What is the audience's current view of the organization?
-What issues and appeals are important to the audience?
-Which media does this audience use and trust most?
-How does the current audience view of the organization differ from the desired one? This is determined by comparing responses from the view that the organization wants the audience to have and what is the audience's current view of the organization.

Sensitive issues should take an appealing form in order not to frighten the audience - Audience identity should also be related - ex. an accountant reading vogue will not trust it
for economic issues but will use other related media channels to be informed.

Εν ώρα αναλαμπής συλλογίζομαι.........

και κραυγαλέα αλαλάζω και ανοίγω τα μάτια για να δω ότι δεν είσαι πια εδώ. Σε χρειάζομαι και ανακαλώ μνήμες από το παρελθόν. Σ' αγκαλιάζω στα όνειρα μου και αναρωτιέμαι κάθε πρωί που να'χεις χαθεί. Έτσι ανώνυμα και αθέατα προχωρώ . Περπάτησα στον ήλιο και τη λάσπη, νιώθω τα πόδια μου υγρά και λερωμένα. Κοιτάζω εσένα και βλέπω εμένα, μ'αγκαλίαζεις και ξαφνικά σύννεφο βροχής τα τινάζει στον αέρα, αλλά εγώ μένω εδώ, πάλι μονάχη και βρεγμένη σαν ένα γατί.

FOCUS - manual and automatic/prefer to use the manual focus to have the control and make sure that the things you want in the picture are in focus.

EXPOSURE - not too bright not too dark- to control it use the IRIS - how much light to allow. - GAIN - (measured in 0db) electronically bright up the image, but the image gets fuzzy, prefer to leave it off. SHUTTER SPEED - how long for the light to come in.

PAL - UK TV system 25 full images in a second and 50 half images

24 images per second - looks normal and smooth (if there are more looks like jumping )transition, but there is an annoying flickering in between.

To avoid that in films they duplicate each picture so even though you see 24 frames is actually double.

In Television works in lines -


On most cameras you cant change the 25 frame per picture but you can change the aperture and therefore change the period of time with shutter speed you capture less amount of light and change how the image looks. This has effect on the exposure - dark or brighter image. When a still picture is required of a very fast sport like formula 1 or baseball you need a fast shutter speed. (The motion states)

The motion blurs makes it looking more smoothly.



COMPOSITION - What is in the picture and where it is. Follow the rule of 3s is a useful composition tool. How you make your composition depends on what you want to say. Ask your self - Is this a good picture?

When focusing on the subject usually we attempt to put the person in the middle of the picture and should be avoid. We should look at the picture and step back and relocate the subject accordingly. Control the audience on what and where they are looking at.









WHITE BALANCE - What sort of light we are filming in - outdoor /sunlight or indoor/artificial light









    For the camera

  1. To make the manual control you need to change it to auto lock off
  2. AE =auto exposure - when is not shown on the display is off
  3. IRIS=change it from the side of the camera and you will see the f sign on the display.
  4. ZEBRA =off/70/100 its the indicator to get right exposure on face highlights - 70 will be ideal
  5. ND=off/1/2 - is like sunglasses for the camera
  6. Zoom in (to eyes) FOCUS Zoom out
  7. Put the tripod at the same height level as the person's eye level
  8. Tripod's level with the help of the bubble of air placed in position
